In a grand convergence at the Akpabio Ukpa Sport Stadium, the ONNA Women Leaders Forum marked the 2024 Women’s Day with a vibrant celebration, honoring the women of ONNA as paragons of virtue, hard work, and strength.

Venerable Dr. David Emmanuel Udonsek, among the esteemed attendees, extolled the ONNA women as pioneers in their fields. In his address to the press, he encouraged the women to persist in their remarkable qualities and to uphold the spirit of excellence that distinguishes ONNA women from their peers.

Setting the event’s tone, the Chairperson of the planning committee, Rt. Hon. Owoidighe Ekpoattai, highlighted the socio-cultural significance of the day for ONNA women and emphasized the goal of this year’s gathering—to fundraise for the Dr. Martha Emmanuel Multipurpose Hall and Bakery.

Dr. Udonsek commended Dr. Martha Udom Emmanuel, the forum’s patron, for her transformative role in fostering women’s inclusion in governance. He challenged the younger generation to draw inspiration from their predecessors, who have significantly contributed to the development of ONNA, the State, and the Nation.

He also called on the women of ONNA to continue supporting the administration of His Excellency Pastor Umo Eno and to embrace the opportunities presented by the Arise Agenda of the Golden Era.

The event was graced by dignitaries such as Elder Hon. Sunday Johnny, Chairman of the Occasion and Member of the ONNA State Constituency; His Eminence, Edidem Raymond Timothy Inyang, Paramount Ruler of ONNA; and Rt. Hon. Pat Ifon. Other notable guests included Dr. Nathaniel Adiakpan; Dr. Inemesit Uwah, spouse of the SSG; Mrs. Ini-Obong Emem Bob, spouse of the Hon. Commissioner for Economic Development; Akwa Obongawan Patience Ukpa, founder of ONNA Women’s Day; and Barr. Ubong Adiakpan, PDP Chapter Chairman for ONNA.

The celebration also saw the participation of Hon. Ini-Abasi Ekanem, Transition Committee Chairman for ONNA and committee members; Rev. (Mrs.) Emem Wills; Engr. Ekaette Inyang MNSE; traditional rulers; and various women’s groups, all coming together to honor the indomitable spirit of ONNA women.
