VERIFICATION TEAM 1 TOURS 5 LGAs IN IKOT EKPENE SENATORIAL DISTRICT

…Commends Pastor Umo Eno On Rural Development Passion.


To advance the rural development blueprint of the State Governor, Pastor Umo Eno, as entrenched in the ARISE Agenda, the Leader and members of Verification Team 1 recently appointed by the Governor and charged with the mandate of authenticating projects executed by Chairmen and members of Local Government Transition Committees in the State, had yesterday fulfilled the mandate as they embarked on projects verification across 5 local government areas in Ikot Ekpene senatorial district.



The Team which comprised the Hon. Commissioner for Environment and Mineral Resources, Chief Uno Etim Uno as Leader, with his Ministry of  Women Affairs and Social Welfare counterpart, Dr. Ini Adiakpan; Commissioner for Economic Development, Mr. Emem Bob; Hon. Member representing Urue-offong/Oruko State Constituency in the 8th Assembly, Mrs. Precious Selong; and Permanent Secretary, State Universal Basic Education Board, Mr. Ignatius Ekwere as members, had embarked on a verification tour of Ini, Ikono, Obot Akara, Ikot Ekpene and Essien Udim local government areas, where they met with the respective Chairmen and Members of their Transition Committees.

Addressing the chairmen and members of the Transition Committees at their respective local government areas, the 5-member Verification Team through its leader, Chief Uno, commended the State Chief Executive, Pastor Umo Eno, for demonstrating commitment and passion towards the development of the rural communities of the State, and for ensuring that the rural dwellers also enjoy the benefits of good governance through lives-enhancing projects within the one-year span of his ARISE Agenda administration.

The Team assured the Transition Committees that its verification mission was never to witch-hunt them, but rather to ascertain the authenticity of their projects as expressed in their respective scorecards for the good of the people placed under their watch. It expressed faith in Pastor Umo Eno’s laudable measures deployed to actualize the sustainable development blueprint for Akwa Ibom State and its people, particularly for the rural dwellers.

In Ini local government area, the Team was conducted round projects sites by the Transition Committee chairman, Hon. Inibehe Umar, where verifications of ongoing renovation of council hall, ongoing construction of the council’s gateway, road grading and an expansive rice farm in Mbiabet Ikot Udo community were carried out.

In Ikono local government area, the Transition Committee chairman, Hon. Kingsley Akpan, conducted the Verification Team round a completed administrative block, a renovated council hall, cassava, maize and pepper farms within the Secretariat, ongoing construction of cassava mill at Nung Ikim, and a newly constructed bungalow donated to a widow in Oduk community.

In Obot Akara, the Transition Committee chairman, Hon. Anietie Ibritam Akpan, led the Team on verification of projects executed by his administration within the 4-month tenure, such as the mini-stadium in Nto Edino, a new building donated to the Police, and an Agro Research Centre located opposite Obot Akara Primary Health Centre.

In Ikot Ekpene local government area, Hon. (Sir) John Cleton Etim, the Transition Committee chairman, led the Team on verification of a newly constructed and furnished Marriage Registry Block located opposite the council Secretariat, and also led the Team on an inspection of a farm located in Mbiabong axis of the area.

The terminal location for the verification exercise was Essien Udim, where the Transition Committee chairman, Hon. Dr. Anthony Luke had conducted the Team on inspection of some stores in Urua Akpan market, and a cassava farm in Akon community.
