ONNA WOMEN’S DAY 2024 : Emem Bob’s  Wife Celebrates ONNA’s Rich Cultural Heritage

It was a celebration of the rich cultural heritage of ONNA people, as women of ONNA Local Government Area on Tuesday, rolled out the drums to mark the 2024 ONNA Women’s Day with the theme : “Inspire Inclusion.”

The event held at the Akpabio Udo Ukpa Stadium, Abat and attracted illustrious sons and daughters of the area, including the wife of the Immediate past Governor of Akwa Ibom State, Mrs. Martha Udom Emmanuel.


Registering her thoughts on the essence of the yearly event, wife of the Commissioner for Economic Development, Mrs. Iniobong Bob, said the programme has constantly afforded women the opportunity to showcase their innate skills and talents while also showcasing ONNA’s rich cultural history.

“We are here today to celebrate ourselves as women of ONNA and as well identify talents among us. Through the various competitions we have on display, we have seen how rich ONNA is in terms of culture. We are also empowering our women to go back to the farm, this is innovative,” she stated.


Mrs. Bob who also served as a member of the Central Planning Committee for the event, posited that the theme: “Inspire Inclusion”, was carefully chosen to place premium on giving women opportunity in all facets of endeavours, stressing that women are the bedrock of a thriving society.

While paying tributes to the founding mother of the Day who according to her laid the solid foundation for what has been turned into a big event for ONNA women, Mrs. Bob whose husband had earlier supported the women with the sum of Five Hundred Thousand naira, on behalf of her husband again, donated the sum of two million naira towards the building project of Martha Emmanuel’s Multipurpose Hall and Bakery.
