The Accountant General of Akwa Ibom State, Pastor Uwem Andrew-Essien has again in his philanthropic gesture donated 10 desktop computers to Accountancy Department , University of Uyo.
Presenting the computers to
the Dean, Faculty of Business Administration, Professor Isaac Ayandele, Thursday, 28th, October, 2021, at the conference hall of the Department, Pastor Andrew-Essien said he was touched to donate the computers to assist the students in their academic pursuit.
“When the executive of Nigerian Universities Accounting Students Association paid a courtesy visit on me early this month and requested for laptops, I decided to make personal donation of desktops instead to assist the Department ” he said.
The Accountant General who maintained that Accounting is a knowledge based profession, said, in this era of ICT, knowledge of computer is added advantage to all.
He praised the President of the Association for his uprightness and diligence saying, he possess good leadership qualities.
The Dean Faculty of Business Administration, Prof. Issac Ayandele, while receiving the computers, expressed gratitude to Pastor Andrew-Essien for his show of love.
Prof. Ayandele maintained that ” it takes an individual with an extraordinary heart and love for education to do what the Accountant General has done” and prayed God to replenish him.
He appealed to the Accountant General to consider other ways he can impact the institution and called on other spirited individuals to take a cue from him.
Earlier, the Head of Department of Accountancy, Doctor Raphael Etim told the Accountant General that when he came on board, he had to review the academic curriculum to ensure that masters and doctorate degree programms do not exceed two years.
“In the department, we set the template for you and any serious student is sure of graduating in two years”.

Students Association ( University of Uyo Chapter), Mr. Gabriel Okon, lauded the Accountant General’s magnanimity to them, assuring that they would make the best use of the computers.
