The major street stretching from Mbioto 2 in Etinan LGA to Ikot Obio-Eket Village in ONNA LGA was alive with vibrant celebrations. Royal fathers adorned in their regal attire, captains of industry, political figures, women’s groups in their flamboyant costumes, youth groups, and cultural troupes filled the streets, rendering traditional folklore songs.
The gathering point was Urua Udo Udang in Ikot Obio-Eket, where a local gun salute marked the occasion. His Highness then majestically strolled along the highway, accompanied by his guests, to the Ikot Obio-Eket Town Hall and subsequently to his palace, where hundreds of guests eagerly awaited his arrival.
The air was filled with the sound of multiple gun salutes, melodious folklore songs, and the sight of traditional dancers showcasing their artistic styles, all in celebration of his receipt of the certificate of recognition as Clan Head.
The evening’s atmosphere truly reflected the grandeur expected of an African King. Guests were treated to sumptuous delicacies and beverages, enhancing the celebratory mood.
The Clan Head bestowed royal blessings upon the Governor of Akwa Ibom State, the Oku Ibom Ibibio and President General of the Supreme Council of Traditional Rulers, the Paramount Ruler of ONNA, the Asuna Nung Oku Clan Council of Traditional Rulers, special guests, women, and youths for making the day memorable. He reaffirmed the traditional rulers’ commitment to ensuring peace and unity in our state and nation Nigeria.
