The Akwa Ibom State Government has unveiled a bold vision for economic renaissance, with the commencement of the second phase of Akwa Ibom Covid 19 Action Recovery Economic Stimulus (AK-CARES) Programme.

Honourable Commissioner for Economic Development, and Chairman, State CARES Steering Committee, Mr. Emem Bob, made this known at a media briefing held at the Conference Room, Ministry of Economic Development, today 19th January, 2024 as he unveiled the ambitious second phase of the programme, emphasizing the programme’s pivotal role in economic recovery and development.
Mr. Bob passionately addressed the media on key objectives, focus areas, and its profound impact on the local economy. He stressed the crucial need for proper publicity to ensure widespread awareness.
The Economic Boss expressed gratitude to His Excellency, Pastor Umo Eno, for granting approval for the commencement of the second phase, aligning seamlessly with the ARISE Agenda of his administration.
On her part, Commissioner for Agriculture and Rural Development, Dr.(Mrs) Offiong Offor, provided a detailed update on Results Area 2 under the FADAMA delivery platform, showcasing tangible progress through the disbursement of agricultural inputs to poultry farmers at the Idongesit Nkanaga Secretariat field.

Mrs. Enobong Okpongkpong, Head, State CARES Coordinating Unit, presented an insightful overview of the programme’s components and initiatives in the State. She stated that the programme is funded by the World Bank, in partnership with the Federal Government, and State Government.
The heads of various delivery platforms shared success stories on the first phase, underscoring their commitment to the programme’s objectives for the next phase of the implementation.
The highpoint of the event was an interactive session with the media, showcasing transparency, progress, and landmark achievements of the AK-CARES programme, as well as its positive impact on beneficiaries and benefitting communities it serves.
Present at the event, were the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Economic Development, Barr. Christopher Udoh, and Staff of State CARES Coordinating Unit.
