…to ensure the continuity of this football tournament and further enhance its impact, reception and fundraising activities will commence immediately at the Palace of the Paramount Ruler of ONNA LGA.
ONNA USA Houston is a non-profit organization dedicated to uniting its members not only in Houston, Texas but also across various states in the USA. Despite its location bias, the organization has consistently shown concern for the welfare of people in its country of origin, Nigeria.
In the past, ONNA USA Houston has intervened in the education and healthcare sectors, and now it aims to unleash the potential of young athletes through sports development.
This football tournament offers participating schools several benefits, including skills development, teamwork and leadership training, physical fitness and mental health, competitive spirit and an opportunity for the players to be scouted by FIFA graded football managers.
The president of ONNA USA Houston, Chief Sam Etukudo and the Chairman ONNA USA Houston Sports Committee, Chief Erete Ebong has positively networked and collaborated to ensure the continuity of the football competition. Their efforts aim to foster skill and talent development, team cohesion and chemistry, and long-term goals and motivation for the players and participating schools.
To celebrate the success of the tournament and further support its objectives, the organization will be organizing a Get-together/Fund Launch immediately after the prize presentation on December 13th at the palace of the Paramount Ruler of ONNA, HRM Edidem Raymond Timothy Inyang (JP) in Awa Ndon, ONNA Local Government Area.
The semi-final fixtures on December 8th, 2023 will feature Community Secondary School Ikot Akpan Ishiet against Government Secondary School Okat, and ONNA Peoples High School Abat against Afaha Inang Community Secondary School Ikot Edem Udo. These matches will take place at Akpabio Ukpa Sports Stadium, ONNA, with games scheduled for 9am and 10:45am, respectively,
Outstanding students will receive personalized guidance on how to successfully access foreign scholarships and sponsorships through sports.
Additionally, the winning teams will have the opportunity to bring home magnificent prizes.
