A delegation from the National Board for Technical Education, NBTE, has arrived Akwa Ibom State Polytechnic, Akwapoly, to undergo a comprehensive staff audit and verification exercise for all Non Academic Staff and eight academic staff in the employ of the Polytechnic.
The team which arrived the State on Monday is expected to have a one-on-one interview and verification with the aforementioned staff of the Institution.
It could be recalled that the Akwa Ibom State Polytechnic, Akwapoly, had recently invited the NBTE team to conduct a similar Staff Audit for all academic staff working in the Polytechnic. The essence of the first phase of the exercise was to identify and rectify cases of inappropriate placement and promotions, multiple age declarations etc, which did not augur well for the growth of the Institution.
The exercise which was the first of its kind in the history of the institution birthed a report by the NBTE that was both revealing and reformative, a bold move by the Dr Moses Umobong led Management team to sanitize and reposition the Institution for greater efficiency, productivity and professionalism.
The NBTE delegation were received on arrival on behalf of the Governing Council by the Rector, Dr Moses Umobong. Other Senior Management Staff present to receive the team include the Polytechnic Bursar, Mr Ekong Ituen, the Polytechnic’s Librarian, Dr Mrs Mercy Ukpannah, the Deputy Registrar Establishment, Mr Godswill Udoaffa, as well as the Director of Academic Programme, Mrs Eduma Essien.
A statement from the Institution says the eight academic staff and all non academic staff of the Polytechnic are expected to be physically present for the exercise.
