Farmers Receive Agric Inputs From AK-CARES Programme
The Honourable Commissioner for Economic Development, and Steering Committee Chairman, Akwa Ibom State Covid-19 Action Recovery and Economic Stimulus (AK-CARES) Programme, Mr. Emem Bob presented agriculture inputs to Beneficiaries who are farmers under the AK-CARES Programme Result Area 2.
The event took place at Ata Obio Akpa Community, in Oruk Anam Local Government Area. The presentation of agriculture inputs were made to members of Ata Obio Akpa Farmers Community Association.
In his remarks, Mr. Bob, said the gesture is a recovery plan from COVID-19, which will positively uplift their standard of living, thereby enhancing the socioeconomic status of the State.
The Commissioner mentioned that the programme approved by Governor Udom Emmanuel for farmers in clusters, will last for one year and added that the entire State will benefit before the expiration of the programme.
The State CARES Steering Committee Chairman, disclosed that the team has gone far in reaching out to farmers in some Local Government Areas: like Onna, Essien Udim, Ini, Oruk Anam, among others.
Present at the event were the Head AK-Cares Coordinating Unit, Mrs. Enobong Okpongkpong, Coordinator FADAMA, Mr. Richard Sam, and other stakeholders.
Items distributed include: 500 day old chicks, 80 bags of feed, 100 piglets, 80 kids, improved cassava cuttings, fertilizers, agro-chemicals and other agricultural inputs.
