ONNA LOCAL GOVERNMENT PLANT COCONUT SEEDLINGS AS A’IBOM MARKS 2022 COCONUT DAY

In a bid to increase the coconut bank in the state, ONNA Local Government joined other Akwa Ibomites in planting hybrid coconut seedlings.

The second phase of Coconut planting heralded by His Excellency, Mr Udom Emmanuel, Executive Governor of Akwa Ibom State is one of the activities in celebration of the state at 35.

The Supervisor for Agriculture in ONNA Executive Council, Hon. Promise O. Ekpoumoh, in a chat with journalists expressed satisfication at the level of embrace coconut planting in ONNA. She also applauded the ingenuity of the Executive Governor for attracting the green industry to the State.

“St. Gabriel Coconut Oil Factory is a money spinner as virtually all parts of the coconut will serve as raw materials. Presently coconut oil is a higher foreign exchange earner per barrel compared to crude” she informed.

The high point of the event was the planting of coconut seedlings by government functionaries in celebration of coconut rebirth in the state.
