Emem Bob Highlights Akwa Ibom’s Economic Growth and Year 2025 Projections at Ministerial Briefing

The Akwa Ibom State Commissioner for Economic Development, Mr. Emem Bob, has outlined key achievements and future projections for Akwa Ibom State’s Economic Development at the ongoing Executive Ministerial Briefing and End-of-Year Review in Uyo. The Theme of the Ministerial Briefing is titled “Highlighting Achievements, Signposting the Future.” The event which took place Monday, 16th December, 2024, brought together Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs) to evaluate their performance and set priorities for the years ahead.
In his presentation, Mr. Bob emphasized the Ministry’s mandate in aligning policy formulation and implementation across MDAs, ensuring synergy in the delivery of the state’s economic objectives. He highlighted the Ministry’s strategic focus on partnerships with donor agencies to drive sustainable development, showcasing several impactful projects aimed at enhancing livelihoods, fostering innovation, and reducing poverty across the state.
“Through robust partnerships with donor organizations, we have launched programs that empower our people, support small businesses, and improve infrastructure critical to economic growth. These achievements are a testament to the state’s commitment to inclusive and sustainable development,” he noted.
Looking ahead, the Commissioner unveiled the Ministry’s 2025 projections, emphasizing increased investments in industrialization, youth empowerment, and public-private partnerships to attract foreign and local investors. He stated that the proposed 2025 budget prioritizes initiatives to stimulate economic growth, create jobs, and improve the quality of life for Akwa Ibom residents.
“Our 2025 budget focuses on creating an enabling environment for industries to thrive while ensuring that our youth are equipped with skills to participate in the emerging economy. We are also fostering stronger relationships with development partners to maximize resources and deliver transformative projects,” he added.
Mr. Bob also reiterated the Ministry’s commitment to coordinating policy planning and implementation across MDAs, ensuring a unified approach to achieving the objectives of the ARISE Agenda.
The Commissioner commended Governor Umo Eno for his visionary leadership and unwavering commitment to transparency and accountability. “His Excellency’s ARISE Agenda provides the guiding framework for economic transformation, ensuring that every sector works collaboratively toward sustainable growth,” he remarked.
The briefing featured presentations from other MDAs, highlighting their progress, achievements, and plans. Participants, including representatives from Civil Society Organizations (CSOs), professional bodies, and the media, engaged in interactive sessions, offering insights and feedback on the government’s efforts.
The ongoing Ministerial Briefing underscores the state government’s dedication to accountability, transparency, and coordinated governance. Economic development remains a cornerstone of the administration’s vision for a prosperous Akwa Ibom State, with the Ministry of Economic Development leading efforts to turn policy into measurable outcomes.
