In a bold step towards fulfilling his campaign promises, the Chairman of ONNA Local Government Council, Mr. Kufre Umoren, has embarked on the grading of eight critical roads aimed at interconnecting villages within the area.
The official flag-off ceremony took place on Wednesday, December 11, at Ikot Ese Ishiet, where the Chairman reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to providing infrastructural solutions that directly enhance the lives of his people.
Addressing the gathering, Umoren mentioned that the essence of governance lies in delivering economically impactful projects to reduce the struggles of everyday life for the citizens.
According to the Chairman, the road grading project is one of the many campaign promises he made to the people, and he is determined to honor each of them.
βWe are starting this initiative in Ikot Ese Ishiet, my hometown, to signify that charity begins at home. However, this effort goes beyond a singular communityβit is a deliberate move to connect multiple villages and foster development across the local government area,β Umoren stated.
The Chairman further assured that other key projects would soon take off within the local government, urging the youth to collaborate with workers and safeguard the equipment to ensure that progress continues without interruption.
“Development can only thrive in a secure and supportive environment,” the Chairman remarked, he emphasized the importance of unity and community effort in achieving success.
Speaking on behalf of the community, Akpan George, the Village Council Secretary of Ikot Ese Ishiet, expressed gratitude to the Chairman for the initiative.
He described it as a transformative gesture and pledged the communityβs unwavering support to the workers to ensure the project is completed on schedule.
