The Great Grace campaign team, led by the Peoples Democratic Party Chairmanship Candidate for the forthcoming Local Government election in ONNA local govt., Mr. Kufre Umoren, yesterday, September 20, 2024, took their campaign tour to Ikot Edor and Ukpana communities, the ward centers for Oniong West Ward 1 and Ward 2, respectively.
Welcoming the team in Oniong West Ward 1, Commissioner for Economic Development Mr. Emem Bob pledged complete support for the campaign, vowing to deliver a hundred percent of the vote on June 5. He emphasized that Oniong West Ward 1 is recognized as the PDP’s “vote basket” of ONNA LGA. The Commissioner solicited the support of his people for the Arise Agenda of His Excellency, Pastor Umo Eno, at the center and the Great Grace team led by Mr. Kufre at the grassroots.
Echoing Mr. Bob’s sentiments, Transition Chairman of ONNA LGA Hon. Iniabasi Ekanem asserted that the ward has a responsibility to show gratitude for the current administration’s support by giving the PDP every available vote in the 12 units in the ward. He applauded the people for their support throughout his tenure as Chairman and subsequently, Transition Chairman and appealed to them, to extend same hand of fellowship to his successor.
In Ukpana, representatives from Oniong West Ward 2 also expressed their profound loyalty and commitment to the Peoples Democratic Party by pledging support for the aspiration of Mr. Kufre Umoren. Speaking at the event, a former Chapter Chairman of the party and senior stakeholder in the ward, Chief Godwin Ben, also known as “Black,” reaffirmed the support of his people, assuring the delegation of a decisive victory at the polls. The Chapter Chairman, Hon. Kingsley Johnny, took the opportunity to appreciate the party stakeholders in ONNA for entrusting him with the responsibility of leading the party in the local government area. He vowed to work diligently to maintain party unity, peace and success in the upcoming local government elections scheduled for October.
In his address, the ever-smiling Kufre Umoren promised to transform the lives of the youth in the area if elected in next month’s polls. Kufre, whose campaign agenda centers on agriculture, sustainable youth empowerment and development, quality healthcare, and education, vowed not to forget the people if voted into power.
According to him, βThe needs assessment of each community in ONNA, which I have received with the endorsement of the village heads, women, and youth leaders, will form the fulcrum of community development during my tenure. Education will be a top priority, just as our elderly people will experience a new lease on life through my senior citizens program, which will enhance their longevity. Women will receive substantial grants to support their business endeavors. Youths will be trained and empowered. All these initiatives will align with the Arise Agenda of our Governor, His Excellency, Pastor Umo Bassey Eno.β
A key highlight of the event was the presentation of party flags to the Councillorship candidates in both wards, alongside the defection of over one hundred members from the All Progressives Congress, led by Mr. Abraham Nathaniel, the partyβs political leader in Oniong West 2.
The campaign event drew prominent politicians from the local government area as well as dedicated PDP supporters, youths, womenβs groups and other stakeholders.
