Inauguration of Asuna Nung Oku Clan Council of Traditional Rulers: A New Beginning

The Asuna Nung Oku Clan Council of Traditional Rulers embarked on a momentous journey during their inauguration ceremony.



Led by HRH Etebom E. Akpan Itiat Udo Udang III, the clan’s traditional rulers stepped into their roles with a sense of purpose and commitment.

Pastor Uwem Andrew-Essien, the Chairman of the Inauguration Ceremony, eloquently acknowledged the leadership prowess of the traditional rulers. He emphasized that kingly and priestly enthronements are divinely ordained.

The goodwill message from HE, Dcn Udom Emmanuel, the immediate past governor of Akwa Ibom State, resonated with hope and optimism. It set the tone for the new chapter in the clan’s history.



The chiefs were commended for fostering peace within their communities by Rt Hon Owoidighe Ekpoattai, Honourary Special Adviser to the Executive Governor on Agricultural Development. Stating that their efforts have contributed to the well-being of the people to enhance their human capacity development index inwait for the avalanche of opportunities courtesy of the Golden Era.

The inauguration marked the beginning of a phase characterized by gigantic developmental and educational strides.

The clan, under HRH Etebom E. Akpan Itiat Udo Udang III’s leadership, aspires to achieve remarkable progress.

Mr. Emmanuel Umontuen, Secretary of the Akwa Ibom State Council of Traditional Rulers and a prominent son of the clan, applauded the traditional rulers for promptly constituting the council. He informed that governance leaves no room for vacuums, and the council’s formation ensures continuity and effective administration.

Mr Emmanuel also informed that the certificate for the clan head will soon be officially conferred by the governor, unencumbered by any obstacles.


HRH Etebom Akpan Itiat Udo Udang expressed heartfelt gratitude to God Almighty comprehensively, his dear wife Obongawan Ndifreke Etebom Itiat for her ceaseless support and to the esteemed guests, elders, political leaders, religious figures, youth representatives, women leaders, and security personnel for the sacrifice of their precious time and resources.

He emphasized the importance of a synergy between the traditional rulers and the community. Stating that regular responses to royal summons and interactions with the Royal Fathers will foster collaboration at the grassroots level.

Recognizing the value of wisdom, HRH Etebom Itiat hinted of the Council’s plans to establish an Elders’ Forum. Pointing that Elders, with their wealth of experience, serve as a vital data bank of knowledge.

HRH Etebom Itiat encouraged all to relent not in advice and prayers to guide the council’s optimal functioning, particularly concerning security of lives and properties.

The inauguration took place at the Palace of HRH Etebom E. Akpan Itiat Udo Udang III, Clan Head of Asuna Nung Oku and the oath of office was administered by Barrister Micheal Duff Umoh.
