PRINCE FOUNDATION FOR YOUTHS, CHILDREN AND WOMEN DEVELOPMENT PRESENT SCHOLARSHIP TO 12 SCHOOLS IN ONNA
No fewer than twelve schools cut across Onna Local government area of Akwa Ibom state have benefited from the 28 edition of prince foundation for youth, women and children development programme.
The 2023 scholarship programme of prince foundation which took place at the Onna people’s high school, Abat, had the guest speaker on the event obong Ufot Oton, a ritired director, admonishing the audience on the topic “fulfilling your purpose” which he let the students to know that God has a blueprint for everyone them and called for partnership for the foundation to expand its reach, so as to attract the blessings of mathew 25:35-40.
Also, Mrs Benedicta Uwem Essien, a retired director in the ministry of education, Lagos State advised the students to take their education seriously so as to come out of the school with flying colours with the aim of becoming responsible future leader in the society.
Speaking, the president of prince foundation for youth women and children development founded in 1994, Obong Prince Uwem Essien, charges the students to shun cultism and antisocial activities by taking advantage of the foundation’s empowerment for the less privileged, Orphan and educational aid for special children.
Obong Prince Uwem Essien, while thanking the state governor, pastor Umo Eno for the ARISE agenda that has impacted positively in the education sector, said his foundation has given scholarship to over 300 students in Onna Local government area and hope to do more in the coming years.
Earlier, the administrator of the foundation Elder Akpan Billy, assured Onna people that the foundation has come to stay and that more Onna schools students will continue to benefit from the foundation in addition to the over 300 students that have benefited from the foundation since inception in 1994
On his part, the chairman on the occasion, Comrade Dominic Akpan, advocated for the teaching of Mathematics in local languages in schools so as to enable the students to have a better understanding of the subject.
At the end of the competition, Onna people’s High school won the first prize after e-massing 15 points while Q.I.C. Senior science school, Ndon Eyo and Oniong West secondary school won the second and third positions.
Responding, the host principal, Mr Ubong Akpan Nanna thanked the organizer of the event for keying into the state government’s ARISE agenda and expressed optimism that the foundation will touch more students in Onna.
The high point of the event was a motivational talk by Evangelist Yemi Adebanwo and presentation of award prizes to the top three schools, presentation of text books to all the participating schools and consolidation prizes to all the schools that took part in the competition.
