Honourable Commissioner for Economic Development, Mr. Emem Bob, Leads World Bank Team on Courtesy Visit to Akwa Ibom State Governor.
In a significant move towards Economic Development, the Honourable Commissioner for Economic Development of Akwa Ibom State led a delegation comprising members of the World Bank Task Team on NG-CARES and the State CARES Steering Committee of the Akwa Ibom COVID-19 Action Recovery and Economic Stimulus (AK-CARES) to pay a courtesy visit to the Governor of Akwa Ibom State, His Excellency, Pastor Umo Eno.

The visit which was held on Wednesday 2nd August at the Office of the Deputy Governor, aimed at fostering collaboration and dialogue between the State Government and the World Bank to effectively implement the NG-CARES and AK-CARES initiatives in the state in line with the Governor’s vision as expressed in the A.R.I.S.E. Agenda
Mr. Emem Bob, the Honourable Commissioner for Economic Development expressed gratitude to the World Bank for their support and emphasized the importance of the NG-CARES and AK-CARES programs in driving Economic growth and Social welfare in Akwa Ibom State.
He stressed the need for synergy between the government, development partners, and relevant stakeholders to ensure the successful implementation of these initiatives.
During the courtesy visit, the delegates discussed key areas of focus, including strategies for post-pandemic economic recovery, infrastructure development, poverty alleviation, and the promotion of sustainable livelihoods for the citizens of Akwa Ibom state.



Governor Umo Eno which was represented by the Deputy Governor of AkwaIbom State, Her Excellency, Senator Akon Eyakenyi PhD expressed her gratitude to the World Bank Task Team for their support and reaffirmed the State’s commitment to achieving sustainable development goals. She acknowledged the significance of the NG-CARES program and the AK-CARES initiative, emphasizing the transformative impact there would have on the State’s economy and the overall well-being of its citizens.
As the state embarks on this journey towards development and prosperity, the combined efforts of the government, development partners, and local communities are poised to bring about positive change, empowering the people of Akwa Ibom to build a brighter and more resilient future.
