FG To Establish Naval Girl’s College in ONNA
…. As Leader, AKHA Host Top Naval Officers.
The Naval Commander, Akwa Ibom State Command, Commodore M. Ideh, has led a team of other commanders on a courtesy visit to the host community in Awa Iman, ONNA LGA where the Girls Command College will be cited.
Commodore Ideh intimated the Village Council of the Federal Government’s readiness to establish the school in Awa, ONNA LGA.

He appealed to the host community for their corporation and support, as they will involve the community in whatever happens there.
The village Head of Awa Iman, Eteidung Ubong Effang thanked Commodore Ideh who act in the capacity of the Chief of Naval Staff, Rear Admiral E. I. Ogalla for his readiness to cite such a massive project in his community, Awa Iman.
However, Chief Effang call for total collaboration and proper negotiations with the host community to integrate and compensation be paid to the owners of the affected properties to ease the project.
AKHA Leader and Member Representing ONNA State Constituency, Hon.(Elder) Sunday Johnny expressed excitement and promised to give the Naval Command in Akwa Ibom State all the necessary support to make the project commence and completed.
According to him, “any society that develops a girl child is indeed planning to develop a nation, and the project is one of a kind that needs full support”.
He further expressed joy and satisfaction over the conducts of the youths of the community for always supporting development.
Hon. Johnny said that the youths of ONNA and Awa Iman in particular are quite peaceful and will cooperate with you as long as what is coming to the community is about development. “I can assure you that you will not have any challenges, and I will stand in the cap between you and the community.” He stated.
Also speaking, the Political Leader of Awa and the former Chairman of ONNA Local Government Council, Bishop (Hon) Ufot Sunday thanked the Federal Government but appealed to them to consider the host community in whatever they’re going to do.
Hon. Sunday intimated the representative of the command that the host community has all the expertise that can maned any job opportunities and should not hesitate to engage their services should there be any need.
Ufot Sunday, however, thanked the immediate past Governor of Akwa Ibom State, Deacon Udom Gabriel Emmanuel for all the developmental strides he has brought to the community, saying that he, the former Governor is the Leader of ONNA and Awa with him holding brief for him.
Engr. Clinton Akpan, another son of the community, while speaking, thanked Commodore Ideh and his team for proposing such a massive project in Awa. He stated that this single project will drag the presence of all Nigerians to the community but appealed for the community involvement in the project.
Chairman AKIPOC, Dr. Elijah Akpan and Board Member, Mr. Etienne Bob also commended the effort of the Federal Government and pledged to throw their weight on the project to become a reality.
Present at the meeting were: Commodore M. Ideh, Navy Captain A.A. Yabo, YM Aruna, Lt. C.d TP Ayuba, Lt. Cd MA Sule, Lt. JN Ayuba, Lt. AK Umar, Joint Labour Chairman, Engr. Monday Nkereuwem Joe and others.
