STYLISH BAM FC SINK ENGR FC

Dima Thomas, Timothy Inyang and Idongesit John starred as BAM FC overcame ENGR FC 5-1 in their Group B opener at the ongoing Maiden Edition of ASUP, AkwaPoly Chapter Inter-Schools Games. BAM Fc made light work of Star studded ENGR Fc in arguably the most impressive performance thus far of the ASUP GAMES FOOTBALL COMPETITION 2023.
Idongesit John broke the deadlock in the 15th minute when he converted a corner kick in a match that was dominated by the School of Business Management from the beginning. Itoro Adiakpan doubled BAM’s lead when he robbed his opponent of the ball and rounded the goalkeeper to tap it into an empty net in the 25th minute
Things went from bad to worst when Timothy Inyang scored a brace in the 32nd and 40th minutes to put the scoreline at 4-0. Ukeme Emah of the School of Engineering gave his side a sigh of relieve when he netted his team only goal of the game with a right-footed shot from outside the box, which went straight to the right corner of the net just before the stroke of half-time.
The second half saw a resurgent ENGR Fc who could not really change the course of the day following a missed penalty by Kokoette Idiong. BAM Fc maintained their cruising position of the evening when Idongesit John doubled his tally for the evening and his side fifth at the 85th minutes to sent the energetic BAM Fc fans into an elaborate celebration.
In a post-match interview, Dean, School of Business Studies and Coach, BAM Fc. Hon. J. J. Ekiko said he is proud and impressed with the level of competency and teamwork displayed by his players.
Hon. Ekiko lauded the effort of his players describing it as the dividends and application of the formation and tactics he had disclosed only to them.
His word: “I thought we played some fantastic football. In every match you expect one team to win, so you have to prepare your players very well, I equipped them well as a coach which is why their performance was excellent, even though we have work to do, I am proud of my players”, he enthused.
On his part, the Dean of Engineering and Coach, ENGR Fc, Engr. Nsikak Afia promised to get back to the drawing board to look at his tactical formation with a view to rejigging same.
The Acting Registrar of the Polytechnic, Mr. Godswill Udofa had earlier performed the match kickoff.
