A’Ibom Cottage Hospital Receives High-Tech Theater/Medical Equipment Courtesy of Governor Emmanuel’s Chief Physician

The Cottage Hospital, Ikot Iko Ibon in ONNA Local Government area, Thursday, received a donation of high-tech theater and other medical equipment from friends of Dr. Ignatius Akpabio, Chief Physician/SSA to Governor Udom Emmanuel.

The donation is meant to compliment the efforts of the Governor, Mr. Udom Emmanuel in health sector reforms which has brought transformation of health institutions across the ten federal constituencies in the state.



Presenting the equipment, Engr. Ghali Danhodi, Chairman, Board of Trustees/founder, Danhodi Foundation cum MD, Danhodi Engineering Limited; a Bio-medical Engineering, Hospital Design & Architecture firm, said the donation is part of their CSR to support the works of his friend, Dr. Akpabio and his principal, Governor Emmanuel in the health sector.

Danhodi mentioned that there was no better way to compliment hard work and zeal for humanitarian gesture than supporting the cause to actualize the vision.

“I was invited to the hospital some years ago by my friend Dr. Akpabio, when the idea of remodeling the dilapidated structures in the hospital was nursed”

“the zeal and determination displayed by Dr. Akpabio to give back to the society prompted my foundation to make the pronouncement of the theater and other medical equipment.”

He said the equipment the foundation has donated are high tech equipment that can aid successful minor surgical operations in the community.



Receiving the equipment, the commissioner for health, Prof. Augustine Umoh, commended the Danhodi foundation for adding value to what the Governor is doing in the health sector across the state.

Umoh, said from his quick assessment of the equipment donated, he can attest to the fact that they are top notch equipment that will contribute to the remedy of health related issues in the community.

“Many may not know the value of the equipment donated, from my quick assessment, I can say they are top notch equipment that will help in health situations in the area” – he said.

Reacting to the gesture, Akpabio in his vote of thanks said that Governor Udom Emmanuel is the brain behind all the achievements recorded in the health sector.

He said that all the applauses should be channeled to Governor Emmanuel for approving and funding the remodeling of the cottage hospital.

He maintained that if the Governor didn’t approve the work, there is no way the work would have been done as it is around the state.

“Let me thank Governor Udom Emmanuel, my boss, for approving and funding the hospital reforms as seen today, it wouldn’t have been possible without his approvals.”

He thanked the Danhodi foundation for the donation and tasked the youths to ensure the safety of all the equipment installed in the hospital.

In their separate remarks, the Chairman, Hospital management board, Dr. Udo Umoh, village head, Eteidung Bernard Bassey and Medical Superintendent, Dr. Inemesit Ekanem, thanked Governor Udom Emmanuel for the reforms initiated in hospitals across the state.

They appreciated Dr. Akpabio for facilitating the remodeling of the Cottage Hospital, Ikot Iko Ibon, and tasked the youths to secure the facility as it belongs to them.

The equipment donated are, Hydraulic operating Theater table, high end operating theater light, high end patients monitor, anesthetic machine, beds, laboratory equipment, etc.
