NEC Commends A’Ibom Govt On Infrastructural Development
The National Economic Council (NEC) Implementation Monitoring Committee (IMC) has commended Akwa Ibom State Government on Infrastructural development projects in the State.
The commendation was made during the tour by the NEC Implementation Monitoring Committee, as part of the Committee’s tour of projects in the South South geo-political zone of the country.
The South South team was led by the Director, Special Duties, Federal Ministry of Finance, Budget and National Planning/ Secretary, NEC Implementation Monitoring Committee, Dr. (Mrs) Gloria Ahmed.

Dr. Ahmed, disclosed that the tour is a yearly exercise to carry out a physical verification across the Nation to ascertain the level of implementation of NEC Resolutions.
” Each year the committee is mandated to go round each state to track the implementation of the resolutions which cuts across seven thematic areas: Agriculture, Solid Minerals, Investment, Industrialisation and Enabling Monetary policies, Infrastructure and Services, Investing in our people, Revenue Generation and Fiscal Stability, and Survival of States and Beyond.To see how much the States are impacting on the lives of their people.”
At arrival the Honourable Commissioner, Ministry of Economic Development, Mr. Emem Bob, with the management staff welcomed the team to the State.
Addressing the delegation, Mr. Bob, said the visit was apt and that it will give them the opportunity to see what the state government is doing through Industrialization and the lofty projects embarked by the administration of Governor Udom Emmanuel.
The Economic Boss intimated the delegation that the Government of Akwa Ibom State, under the leadership of Governor Udom Emmanuel, has birthed so many developmental projects in the State.
“We are blessed with a Governor that has impacted on the lives of the people. With his support, the State has been able to implement the resolutions of the NEC.”
” ….projects embarked on by this government are economicially viable projects like: Education, Agriculture, Employment, Road Infrastructure, Health, Aviation Development with one of the best Airlines, and other intervention programs.
Earlier in his welcome remarks, the Permanent Secretaries of the Ministry, Barr. Christopher Udoh welcomed the team to the State, and assured them of an impressive experience at the end of the visit.
Among the projects visited were: The New International Terminal Building at the Victor Attah International Airport, Ring Road 3, Ikot Oku Ikono Flyover, Green House at the entrance of the Airport to catch a glimpse of the vegetable garden.
In continuation of their tour of projects in the State, the Committee also visited the Molecular Diagnostic Laboratory, with the disease control unit, at Methodist Hospital, Ituk Mbang, MIMSHAC Transportation Technologies Ltd, Dakkada Cottage Industries Limited, St. Gabriel Coconut Oil Factory, Coconut Plantation, and General Hospital Awa.
The Committee at end of the tour paid a courtesy visit to His Excellency, Governor Udom Emmanuel, and were received by the Secretary to the State Government, Dr. Emmanuel Ekuwem.
The team had representatives of the National Economic Council (NEC), Office of the Vice President, the Secretary, South South IMC, Mr. Daniel Ikara and other members of the South South team, to monitor and evaluate projects executed in Akwa Ibom.
The reports of the Implementation Monitoring Committee will be presented to the National Economic Council in April 2023 for consideration and further action.
