Akwa Ibom PDP Scribe Debunks Claim He Doesn’t Contribute To Community Development
Akwa Ibom PDP Secretary, Harrison Ekpo has debunked claims that he does not support his kinsmen and community development, describing such allegation as unfounded.
The PDP chieftain disclosed this to newsmen on Sunday while reacting to the widely circulated press release across social media platforms that he has neglected his community kinsmen and has failed to attract government presence to his village.
Reacting, Ekpo said; “I am a Party executive Member just like every other person in the Exco, I’m not an elected officer of this present administration, nor an appointee of the Governor. I have been in touch with my kinsmen and have used my personal funds to renovate boreholes, bought generators for its operation, and also funded grading of several internal roads in my ward.”
He also said, he has attracted life touching projects to the community, including an interministerial borehole project to the primary school within the community.
The Ikot Udo Esang born politician added that although he does not keep records of the things he does for his people, he has given educational materials and scholarships on several occasions to indigenous students, some who are undergoing their NYSC program at the moment.
He recalled how as a Party man, he facilitated the employment of his Kingsman, one Otobong Henry Uneh, who is today a staff of the party, a position that is secured even after the expiration of his tenure in office. He also facilitated the employment of a son of the community who studied physics and is currently on the employ of a company in ONNA today.
Also recalling what he did for a son of the soil when he was contacted by a former House of Reps Member, Hon Owoidighe Ekpoattai, he said he recommended Mr Mmo Williams for a car empowerment, contributed hundreds of thousands to aid him get married, supported his building project and has constantly been responsible for his (Mmo) house rent for years and that his landlord, one Mr Uche can confirm the story.
Reacting to allegation of giving out welfare contracts to his sister, he said that it is laughable as he only requested for the sister who is a professional chef to prepare meals for visitors at his own expense during the official inauguration of MPM at the ward level, saying that he sponsors most of ward tour in his community.
Ekpo noted that he has a strong working relationship with his village council and has even received commendation letters from the council in appreciation of his efforts in community development, wondering why anyone would think of instigating the community against his person, by forging the signatures of the Youth President of his community and others, in an effort he said is in futility.
The State party’s scribe lauded the Governor for the rehabilitation of the entire stretch of Mbioto 2 – Ikot Akpan road, Inter-Ministerial projects, job creation, among others.
He called on blackmailers to desist forthwith from using his name and other prominent sons and daughters of ONNA to score cheap political points.
Ekpo also informed that as State Secretary of the party, there exist no statutory budget accrue to the party not to mention his office. It is at the benevolence of faithful party members that the party has been achieving her feats.
The Chief Scribe of PDP in the State is confident of a favourable result for PDP in his community, Ward, ONNA and Akwa Ibom State as such won’t be distracted at sustaining the developmental strides of His Excellency Mr Udom Emmanuel via election victory for the party.
