The country home of Pastor Uwem Andrew-Essien, Accountant General of Akwa Ibom State provided a perfect ambience for defectors from APC and YPP to denounce their patronage of their former parties and pledge unalloyed support to the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP.
In his remark Barr Ubong Adiakpan, Chapter Chairman of PDP in ONNA noted that the defection is occasioned by the laudable performance of the Executive Governor of Akwa Ibom State as well as the scorecard of Pastor Uwem Andrew-Essien at the grassroot.
Barr. Adiakpan urged them to remain faithful to the party and never go back anymore.
Member representing Eket/ONNA/Esit Eket/Ibeno Federal Constituency, Rt. Hon. Patrick Ifon also appreciated the defectors for their decision to come home, stressing that PDP remains the only formidable party in the state which has nurtured gigantic developmental projects.
Delighted by the mass defection, Pastor Uwem Andrew-Essien commended Governor Udom Emmanuel for his impactful developement strides which has motivated many to return to the umbrella and for giving him the opportunity to serve as a team member in delivering great dividends of democracy to the people.
Hon. Udo Uyoata Ebio, Ward 4 Political Leader informed of the quality of the decampees, stressing that they have multiplier effects while Prince (Evang.) Abraham Duff, PDP Ward Leader appreciated Pastor Uwem for always providing a shoulder. He prayed more elevated position for him as this act has milked the opposition camp dry.
Rt. Hon. Ime Utin took out time to reiterate the need for people to be in possession of their PVC as the tools that will be needed on election day.
While responding on behalf of the defectors, Mr Sunny aka Sunny Multitude was quick to reveal that “our coming back is at the instance of the Accountant General … the pronouncement on equitable distribution has sparked our canvassing activities in favour of PDP”.
The great meet carried the signature of Hon. Nda Nda as revealed by the host, Pastor Uwem Andrew-Essien.
Some of the defectors include Otuekong Aniefiok Akpadiaha, former Secretary ONNA Local Government & former ONNA Chapter Secretary of PDP; youth leaders of Ikot Mbong and Ikot Udo Esang Communities, Comrade Ekpoh and Comrade Elijah Ekpo respectively.
