2023 Election: 42 Village Youth Presidents Endorses Sunday Johnny For House of Assembly
β¦. Says, we will canvas votes for all five PDP candidates
As the highest electoral umpire in the country (INEC) lifted ban for political campaigns across all political parties in Nigeria, different political organizations continues to woo support for the PDP candidate in ONNA, Mr. Sunday Johnny, ahead of the 2023 general elections.
The latest among these groups were the forty-two (42) Village Youths Presidents, Chairman, ONNA Chapter of Akwa Ibom State Youth Council, President, ONNA Youth Development, National Youth Council of Nigeria, Akwa Ibom State Chapter, Barrister Theodore Williams, other notable youths umbrellas in ONNA.
This came as βWE BELIEVEβ Campaign Organization, led by Hon. Prince Godwin Ben aka Black, set the ground rolling when he declared the meeting open. In his statement, the campaign DG charged the apex youth bodies in ONNA to always thrive in truth in whatever they believe and stand for.
βToday, I am standing tall to support Sunday Johnny because I know him to be a very honest and sincere person in all his dealings. I am here to hand over a man who speak less but act more, and he is no other person than the one who will speak for you in the Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly come February 2023 and his name is Hon. Sunday Johnny.β The campaign DG remarked.
Speaking on behalf of the Oniong clan, the Village Youth President of Ikwe, Mr. Nsikan Gregory thanked the Mr. Johnny and his team for deeming it necessary to recognize them as a worthy partner in the forthcoming general elections. He promised to take the message home while doing all he can to make sure that PDP wins in all the offices.
Also speaking on behalf of Asuna Nung Oku Clan, Mr. David Monday, village youth president of IkΓ΄t Akpan NkΓ΄, where the current House of Assembly Member, Honorable Nse Essien hailed from, said that he was happy, and he believed in PDP and do everything within the ambit of the law to make sure that PDP wins in all elections in ONNA. However, he reminded the incoming House of Assembly Member to always stay true to his word while doing all he can to remind the Governor of his promise to the village Youth presidents.
Other youth presidents who took turns to speak were the village youth president of Ikot Ndua Iman, Samuel Ekaiden and village youth president of Awa Atai, Mr. Samuel Inyang who spoke for Nung Ndem clan and Awa Afaha Clan respectively. Both speakers reiterated their commitment to work for the success of Mr. Sunday Johnny and other PDP candidates. They noted that the Governor has performed above expectations and as such, they will vote for Alhaji Atiku Abubakar as President of Nigeria, Pastor Umo Eno as Governor, Rt. Hon. Ekong Sampson as Senator, Rt. Hon Okpolupm Etteh as Member House of Representative and Mr. Sunday Johnny for ONNA State House. As the first and the second speakers, they also intimated the incoming member to remind His Excellency of his earlier pledge he made to his youths.
Chairman ONNA Youth Council, Mr Tony Ekpo, President, ONNA Youth Development, Mr. Samuel Uffang (Ibe), National Youth Council Chairman, Akwa Ibom State Chapter, Barr. Theodore William and Mr Akpan Ubak all took turns to speak while declaring their total commitment and support to all the five PDP candidates. They send goodwill messages to the AKWAIBOM State Governor for his sterling performance in all sectors, while also expecting to receive words from the Governor in the shortest possible time.
Responding, the convener and the incoming House of Assembly Member for ONNA State Constituency, Mr. Sunday Johnny gave the assurance to all the youths through their leaders that he will never betray their trust and the mandate given to him in trust. He, however, charged all to return to their respective units and canvass for votes since the pattern of voting has changed.
βThis coming elections is one man one vote and as such, all hands must be on the desk to have a good outcome and I tasked all of you to return to your respective wards, village and units, while doing all you can to make sure that we have a good number to win convincingly.β Mr. Sunday said.
He promised to relay back all their request to His Excellency, and he believes that the Governor, who is a promise keeper, will send words appropriately.
The meeting came to a close with a vote of thanks by, the former Vice Chairman of ONNA, Hon. Princewill Johnny and a closing prayer by Elder (Hon) Nda.
