The excitement, the glamour, and the fun was palpable Wednesday evening at the Sheraton Hotel, Abuja, as the 2021 Daily Independent First Ladies Awards held.
In attendance at the epochal event was the First Lady of Akwa Ibom State, Her Excellency, Dr. Mrs. Martha Udom Emmanuel, who sparkled brightly amongst her sister colleagues in the list of awardees.
Dr. Emmanuel, who was nominated in the category of “The First Lady of the year (National) in Social Welfare and Justice for Women” and “First Lady of the year (south-south) in educational empowerment (Girl-Child)”, in recognition of her charitable work through her non-governmental platform the Family Empowerment and Youth Reorientation Path-initiative FEYReP, carted home the coveted prizes to the delight of the audience.
Speaking shortly after receiving the awards, the FEYReP boss specially appreciated God for His grace upon her life these past years, saying that recognition only comes from Him.
She further thanked her beloved husband, Governor Udom Emmanuel for the immense support given her, stating that he is the pillar of all the successes recorded.
To Akwa Ibom people, the State’s First Lady, extended her thank you for all the support and encouragement she has received in the course of her work, and prayed God to bless and reward their love.
She ended her brief extempore speech by appreciating the organizers of the awards for the honour done her, saying it would spur her to do more for humanity.
In droves, the Akwa Ibom community including National Assembly members and their wives, State legislators, Commissioners, Wives of legislators, Female Chairmen of Councils, the PDP family, members of the first family etc. thronged the venue of the awards in solidarity of their beloved First Lady.
