…As Youths embark on a “Thank you Walk” in Uyo

A cross section of Youths in the state yesterday embarked on what they termed “a thank you walk”, aimed at registering their gratitude to the Akwa Ibom State Governor, Mr Udom Emmanuel for his commitment to the empowerment and political inclusion of Akwa Ibom Youths.

The youths who were led by the Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Youth Matters, Comrade Aniefiok Wilson Iwaudofia, and accompanied by his Counterpart on Marketing and Brand Management, Mr Ime Uwah started the walk from the Youth House, Ewet Housing Estate and rallied across major Streets in Uyo the State Capital.

In his remark, the Governor’s Aide who doubles as Chairman, Akwa Ibom State Youths Caucus, said the Governor deserved commendation for his unprecedented zeal and passion for youths development in the state.

Listing the ways the Governor has impacted the youths, Iwaudofia named appointment of youths as aides, granting of waivers for youths in the state to run for elective offices, among others.

The Governor’s aide said the recent disbursement of business grants and startup funds to targeted youths across the state deserved commendations.

He also thanked the Governor for making available a monthly stipend package for 600 Youth Council Members across the 31 Local Government Areas in the state. According the the Youth Caucus chairman, the Governor’s benevolence is also extended to members of the state youth caucus, 81 Village youths presidents, and other youth formations in the state.

Speaking earlier, the Senior Special Assistant to Governor Udom Emmanuel on Marketing and Brand Management, Mr Ime Uwah thanked the Governor for his numerous investments in the human capacity development for youths in the state. Uwah said Governor Emmanuel has not only given the youths financial empowerment, but has also trained them on how to deploy the funds to profitable ventures.

The SSA said programmes such as the Akwa Ibom Youths Entrepreneurial Development Programme also known as My Entrepreneurship Goals Programme (MEGP) has helped over 600 Akwa Ibom Youths to acquire business know how and entrepreneurial skills. Uwah noted that the Governor’s investments has already started to yield fruits through the rise in entrepreneurial activities and start ups in the state.

The “thank you walk” which saw the youths rally across major streets in Uyo the Akwa Ibom State Capital had in attendance, the SSA on Youths Matters, Mr Aniefiok Wilson IwaUdofia, SSA on Marketing and Brand Management, Mr Ime Uwah, Chairman National Youth council of Nigeria, Akwa Ibom State Chapter, Barr. Theodore Willaims, Dakkada Coordinator General, Comrade Victor Koffi, President General, Akwa Ibom State Village Youths Association, Comrade Ndu Akpan Davis, other youth leaders, and a cross section of Akwa Ibom Youths.
