
…. Doles out 5 million naira cash grant to 25 women in Eket.
The leader of Eket Senatorial District, Chief Nduese Essien, through his numerous efforts in encouraging self reliance, Wednesday 6th October, 2021 empowered women across the 14 wards in Eket Local Government Area.
The empowerment, which took place at Trinity Hall, Afaha Atai road, in Eket LGA had 25 women financially empowered with two hundred thousand naira ( 200,000.00) each to encourage business startups in other to boost SMEs in the local government and state respectively.
Addressing the beneficiaries, Chief Essien urged them to make judicious use of the money received in order to improve on their existing businesses and also earn a sustainable living.
However, he advised them to focus more on creating wealth and therefore becoming masters of their own businesses.
In their separate remarks, Pastor Ita Udoh, Rt Hon Barrister Jack Udota, Chief C. H. Isong, Akwaobonganwa Comfort Enodien, Rtd Group Captain Moses Eno and Hon Emem Francis Joshua, who were physically present, charged the beneficiaries to develop in-depth plans and expansionary measures that will see to the best utilisation of the money received.
They added that if the beneficiary used the financial grant recieved wisely, they will better their lives and that of their immediate environment.
Reacting on behalf of the beneficiaries, Lady Mercy Nyoho, who specializes in hair making, applauded Chief Nduese Essien for his show of love towards their well being.
She pledged to make best use of the funds to better their businesses in order to improve their economic status.
The event had in attendance, Akwaobonganwan Mandu Abia, Hon. Enobong Akpan, Hon. Comfort Nsimah, Hon. Barrister Gladys Ekaette, Obonganwan Deaconess Elizabeth Essien, Hon. Emem Francis Joshua, Obonganwan Akpawan, Mrs Stella Emmanuel Mbong, Hon Emem Wilson and PDP ward women leaders, among others.
