The Chief Protocol Officer to the Governor, who also double as Akwa Ibom State Table Tennis Association and Chairman Me Lounge Table Tennis Academy, Mr. Edmond Uffang today, 29th September 2021 donates two sets of standard Table Tennis board with full kits to Nigerian Christian Institute (NCI) and Community Secondary School, Aka Offot.
Mr. Uffang who was ably represented by Mr. Abasiakan Essiet stated that the donation is in a bid to prepare and develop Akwa Ibom children ahead of time who will in the nearest future be able to compete at the global standard.
Receiving the board, the Principal of Nigerian Christian Institute (NCI), Mrs Mfon Nse expressed gratitude to Mr. Uffang and his team for choosing NCI as one of the beneficiaries of such gestures. She, however, promises that the school will make effective use of the table as they will be eagerly awaiting to compete with other schools.
The Proprietor of the school, Professor Ekemini Mkpong in his statement, thanked the donor, says it’s a welcome development. He also appealed to the donor and the state government to once again organize a school table tennis competition that will help in discovering hidden talents among the students.
At Community Secondary School, Aka Offot, the Vice Principal on Special Duties, Mrs Sylvia U. Udoumoh received the donation on behalf of the Principal. She thanked the CPO to the Governor for adding value to sports development,, especially at the secondary school level. She said that the table tennis came when it was mostly needed. The Vice Principal Administration and Vice Principal General Duties, Mr. Augustine Etuk and Mrs Iboro Isobara respectively thanked the team and urged them to do more in sports development.
Responding, Mr. Uffang through his representative charged them to make effective use of the table, thereby aiming at representing the state and the country in any Table Tennis Tournament.
Among those who accompanied Mr. Edmond were: PDP Chapter Chairman Nsit Attai, Mr. Abasiakan Essiet, Chairman National Youth Council of Nigeria, Akwa Ibom State Chapter, Barrister Theodore William, Akwa Inom Sate Table Tennis Coach, Mr. Alex, Mr. Richard and ORS.
